We are joining with a nationwide celebration of our nation’s independence - a “great experiment” to make “liberty and justice for all” possible - that began in 1776 and continues today. 

Our Goal is to remember and honor those from this region of Ohio who played an integral role in founding this American Republic, and to encourage pride, ignite the imaginations, and inspire service in the hearts of all citizens of Muskingum County.

We will be commemorating America's Semiquincentennial with a series of events showcasing our rich history and vibrant community spirit. From historical reenactments to cultural exhibitions, residents and visitors alike are invited to join in honoring 250 years of American heritage. Through these celebrations, Muskingum County pays tribute to its past while looking towards a promising future.

Muskingum 250 programs and events are centered on the historical time frame stretching from the pre-Revolutionary War era through the conflict itself, and extending beyond to the conclusion of the War of 1812.

We will focus primarily on veterans who fought in the Revolutionary War and War of 1812, specifically those who settled in Muskingum County.

The Muskingum 250 Committee is a subcommittee of Muskingum County History made up of ten volunteer committee members from organizations throughout Muskingum County.
